Psoas & the Art of Defense co-taught with Greg Soon

A strong and relaxed core is key in developing awareness, centeredness, and strength essential in all Martials Arts. This inner compass and root in movement and in life is called tan tien in Japanese, and dantian in Chinese i- the elixir field. It is our center of gravity and the home of the psoas. In the Japanese martial art Aikido, a strong center is not based on density but on flowing with our Ki (life energy).
Join us in a three-hour exploration incorporating fluid psoas explorations and martial arts exercises that come from Aikido and classical Jiu-jitsu to help channel movement from our center with a relaxed body and mind.
Greg Soon has trained in martial arts for over 30 years and has been an Aikido and self-defense instructor since 1997. Greg (featured above) teaches the Martial Arts Lab at The Moving Body Resources in New York City.
Liz Koch is an international educator, author, and creator of CoreAwareness™ focusing on awareness as key for developing human potential and awakening consciousness. With 40 years experience specializing in the psoas, Liz is recognized in the somatic, bodywork, and fitness professions as an authority on the core tissue psoas.
