SUMMARY:FUNDAMENTALS: Sacred Sacrum
DESCRIPTION:Presented March 2022. This video recorded class is available by purchasing a ticket below. \nOne of the\nsacred shapes the triangle\,\nforms the sacrum \n\n\n\nAskeystone of the pelvic bowl\,\nthe sacrum is the heart\nof the essential Navel root Hara\,\nTan Tien of the belly core \n\n\n& \n\n\nSkeletal Balance \nA physical and energetic keystone\, all weight passes through the\nsacrum from one (spine)into two (legs)to form a seaway\ntransporting energy between heaven (gravity) and earth (rebound).\nBelonging to both heaven and earth\, the sacral keystone unifies\nand serves as an organizing force. Suspended between two pelvic\nileum bones\, the sacrum houses one end of the central nervous\nsystem\, where vital electrical and energetic information is\ntransferred via a web of ligaments known as the sacroiliac joints\n(Sl joints). A fascial sheath\, called the dura mater\, wraps around protecting the\nprecious spinal cord. Connecting to both ends of the spinal cord (the\nsacrum and the cranium) the dura assures a direct and\nfundamental coherency between the root sacrum and crown\ncranium – thus the two ends of the primitive brain. \n  \nI loved this workshop! It helped balance my pelvis in the most pleasant way \nand CRP has been much more available for new insights  \n\nMary Borton\, E-RYT 500The Heart of Teaching

SUMMARY:Dance of the Diaphragm & Psoas ~ 2-hr Zoom
DESCRIPTION:Dance of the Diaphragm & Psoas  \n\n\nPresented February 2022. The video recording is available by purchasing a ticket below.\n\n \n\n\n\n“Continuing our oceanic journey of reimagining the fluid midline is not complete without re-envisioning and re-languaging diaphragms. Neither a shelf nor a roof\, diaphragms are pulsating and buoyant tissue. Buoyancy is our birthright as foot\, pelvis\, respiratory\, mouth\, skull\, armpit\, and hand all have resilient dome-shaped tissue capable of providing a dynamic support that is not only responsive but also adaptable. \nOur respiratory diaphragm is a fluid bell-shaped tissue with jellyfish-like movements that blossom in multiple directions\, opening up internal spaciousness and volume while simultaneously opening down\, to root deep into the belly core. Diaphragms are naturally resilient and rebound with every step. Through fluid connective tissue and vibrating tensegrity\, ground reaction force is sensed in our floating bone\, supple psoas\, and buoyant diaphragms\, supporting movement and lifting our spirits.” \nStalking Wild Psoas: Embodying Your Core Integrity

SUMMARY:Using Our Sensory System in Non-Traditional Ways ~ A Collaboration with Janine Naccarato
DESCRIPTION:Presented January 2022. The video recording is available by purchasing a ticket below. \nUsing Our Sensory System in Non-Traditional Ways \nA Collaboration \nbetween \nLiz Koch and Janine Naccarato \n  \nSince my childhood my mother knew that I was not like other children.  Yet\, I did not present with anything back then that professionals could identify only that I was not applying myself… [experiencing] sensory overload…always frightened\, I was looked at as a behavior problem ~ perceived as un-cooperative.   \n We begin with Connecting to Our Senses… Skin\, muscles\, bones\, organs and fluids.  Exploring the senses at their physical locations with special “intell” powers ~ skin and air\, ears as tools for vibration\, eyes as sensing organs\, tongue as tool… Ken-i-sphere: third eye ~ nose ~  tongue ~  ears ~  throat ~ heart ~ belly ~ solar plexus ~ pelvis\, hands ~ feet \nMotion as the Great Regulator …We connect to the outside world of sight sound and touch and taste in new ways. Like drinking in a moment or hearing through touch\, scenting a moment.  Sharpening your kin-e-sphere through sensory deprivation and moving into your wild. \nPracticing Self Regulation…Exploring requires a readiness and awareness to achieve coherency. Touch tapping ~ eye movement ~ imagery ~ rhythmic breathing ~ vibration\, voicing\, hyper-annunciation\, crying\, screaming\, rolling\, sloshing \nUntangling and differentiating... We move between sensory and motor experience in an effort to achieve a new level of awareness about how we are connected.  As a human species\, we are literally shedding our old skin and growing a new more elaborate skin…a neural network that will have extra perceptual capacity to help bring human kind through its next evolution.  By establish sensory motor cues or a daily practice we open up this skill set. Mind body sensitization ~ Vestibular stimulation ~Auditory regulation ~ Kinesthetic mobilization ~ Diaphragmatic Vocalization. \n \n\nJanine Galati Naccarato\, LMT is the owner/founder of Body IQ Life Wellness boutique. A second generation\, Romana trained & certified Pilates Teacher and a graduate of Temple University School of Public Health\, Janine has dedicated her career path to discovering and developing methods which focus on non-surgical intervention for self-healing and self-realization. She crafted her University degree to include dance\, athletic training\, exercise physiology & nutritional wellness. And her post graduate studies include: Yoga training in India with Sri Pattabhi Jois\, various forms of massage & body therapeutics including studies with Master teachers from The Rolfing Institute and more. During her years as a ballet dancer\, Janine recognized the importance of optimal body alignment for injury prevention\, as well as\, the power of energy balancing between mind and body. Janine’s hands on approach and skill set in the areas of orthopedic bodywork\, exercise program & design\, as well as corrective exercise\, shapes her unique approach in her studio for clients at Body IQ Life Wellness Boutique.  @BodyIQGirl is her public profile on social media which represents her brand and is available to answer your health/wellness questions. Janine is available for private and group Skype/Zoom time\, as well as mentorship.  She can be reached at 717-903-3760.

SUMMARY:Stalking Wild Psoas: Womb To World with Anna Verwaal on Zoom
DESCRIPTION:The Journey that Shapes Our Life\n\nJoin Liz Koch and Anna Verwaal for this most extraordinary process oriented workshop \ncombining research\, personal exploration and movement.\n\nMore than four decades of findings in the field of pre-and-perinatal psychology has shown that the moment of conception\, the time in our mothers’ womb\, and how we are born are foundational experiences that affect us for the rest of our lives. Our health\, belief system\, fears\, and ability to form healthy relationships are profoundly shaped by early non-verbal\, emotional\, and somatic imprints created during this primal period. \nThis online workshop is for anyone seeking to explore and understand how conception\, prenatal experience\, and birth-related imprints might still play out in their day-to-day life. \nAnna and Liz work collaboratively to provide a comprehensive container of information\, personal experiences\, and nourishment in order to create a space to explore preverbal memories without experiencing cathartic reenactments.    \nEach day will include a specially prepared audio-visual presentation\, a guided movement exploration\, and a break-out room sharing session and/or creative processing session through artwork. Anna will help participants recognize their own early imprints and how they may be related to their conception\, prenatal period\, or birth experience. Using micro-movement and sound-breath techniques\, Liz will help participants access fluid movement to dissolve\, integrate\, and awaken. \nGroup Size: 20 \n\nA creative collaboration: \nInternational Pre & Perinatal Educator Anna Verwaal\, combines the latest findings in the field of pre and perinatal psychology with her decades of preconception to post-natal counseling and professional work experience in all areas of maternal-child health. Anna weaves her extensive personal and professional experience\, with her stunning photography and storytelling to help you understand the long-term effects of your own conception\, time in your mother’s womb\, birth experience and early postnatal experience in order to discover how these experiences might still be affecting you physically\, emotionally\, and relationally. If your conception was unplanned\, your birth induced\, or you were born with a tight umbilical cord around your neck or spent time in an incubator\, you might feel more like you are surviving than thriving. But this does not have to be the way forward. Experience how becoming conscious of your earliest imprints can improve the relationship with yourself\, with loved ones\, and how it can help support your human potential and creative expression throughout life.  \nInternational Author & Somatic Educator Liz Koch focuses on integrating your somatic expressions and experiences as you witness Verwaal’s photographs of the interventions and life experiences that babies have lived through and begin remembering your own birth story.  Liz brings her 45 years as a somatic educator to encourage integration and innovation. Using subtle primal movements you’ll begin to dissolve personal dynamics of conception\, womb memory\, and birth impressions held and expressed within cellular memory without eliciting cathartic reactions. Holding a container of nourishment our prenatal imprints\, which may be playing out in a variety of expressions are able to find resolution. You will discover how insistent patterns reveal your life assumptions\, strategies\, and desires. Using micro-movement and sound-breath you’ll access fluid movements to dissolve\, integrate\, and awaken. Revitalizing the very core of your being to restore and nourish our full capacity for becoming dynamic\, creative\, heartfelt beings.   \nBiographies:\nAnna Verwaal\, RN\, CLE is a maternal-child health nurse\, conscious conception & birth consultant\, primal period educator\, midwife & doula instructor\, UCLA certified lactation educator and birth photographer from the Netherlands.  After a 25-year nursing career in various countries in obstetric\, pediatric\, neonatal hospital care\, and home-health settings\, working with families and babies as an educator/consultant Anna started her own private birth consulting practice. Anna is the presenter of a TEDx Talk by the same name\, travels internationally giving lectures to groups and conventions\, as well as offering workshops to professionals and laypeople about the long-term effects of the conception/prenatal/birth experience\, the hormonal physiology of childbirth\, breastfeeding\, bonding\, and the deeply psychological\, emotional and spiritual aspects of giving birth. Anna is a long-term member of APPPAH\, the Association of Pre and Perinatal Psychology & Health. \n\nLiz Koch  is an international educator\, author\, and creator of CoreAwareness™ focusing on awareness as key for developing human potential and awakening consciousness. With 45 years experience specializing in the human core\, Liz is recognized in the somatic\, bodywork\, and fitness professions as an authority on the core tissue called the Psoas.  Both nationally and internationally published\, her works include The Psoas Book\, Unraveling Scoliosis CD\, Core Awareness; Enhancing Yoga\, Pilates\, Exercise & Dance\, Psoas & Back Pain CD\, Mother\, Maiden\, Crone: Our Pleasure Playlist and her new book  Stalking Wild Psoas: Embodying Your Core Intelligence (2019 North Atlantic Books) \n\n  \n  \nCANCELLATION POLICY:  FINAL – Please read my complete cancellation policy available online before registering.  Online Courses may not be cancelled once you have received access to the course. \nNational Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) Approved \nThis is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork for 18 hours of continuing education credit (CEU). DESCRIPTION:A Kinesthetic Sensory Inquiry For Women \nComing To Our Senses   \n  \n\nWhat is the experience of core integrity if it emerges at this moment within a sensory based woman? \nHow do we\, as women\, embody a lived integrity? \nWhat does integrity sense like within the very core of our being? \n  \n \nAs one woman wrote “with the impulse to be good is the fear of getting it wrong.”  \nHer words say it all. \nIf we can physically experience our conditioning within our personal core\, \nmaybe women can collectively locate our authenticity within our flesh and bones \nand truly be integral.   \nJoin me for 2.5 hours once a week for 6 weeks and dive under the cultural / historical strangle-hold to sense our animal body’s essential aliveness and potential. Dissolve the density..the fear\, the freeze… fawning responses…discerning brutal or savage from the wild.  \nHonor Our W I L D knowing \ntracking your expression as no longer predicated on inauthentic yet correct behavior. \nEach session includes \nmovement explorations and integration \nAccess impulses of longing \nand what is required to manifest core integrity  \nMicro-fluid movements soften strictures spontaneously evoking emergent experiences that awaken our sensory system and its relationship to a larger field of bio-intelligence \nDive under the cultural and historical strangle-hold \nand sense your animal body’s essential aliveness and potential.

SUMMARY:Women + Power = Wild Discernment (A Moving Media/Bookclub Fall '21 Edition)
DESCRIPTION:So much has gone on in the last two years that Liz Koch and I believe we have all missed some opportunities to really process\, digest and internalize some powerful pieces of art/media. \nKimberly Ann Johnson \n \nWomen + Power = Wild Discernment \nA Moving Media/Bookclub \nFall 2021 edition \nA moving/writing/reflecting collaboration with Kimberly Ann Johnson and Liz Koch \nPatriarchy has taken different shapes and forms. Yet\, as women\, our animal bodies still hold the stories of how we have and continue to reckon with a top-down\, power-over dynamic. How might we free ourselves from default patterns in our nervous system that are ancestral\, cultural\, familial\, and very personal? Join us on a three-month intergenerational exploration using stories as soulful archetypes in order to maul over and metabolize our strategies with the intent of innovating how best we\, as women\, might meet power at this moment with core integrity. Each three-hour gathering will focus on a movie\, documentary\, or novel as a starting point for tracking our sensory system through somatic movements\, journaling\, small group conversations\, and large group reflections. \nAlthough this class is open to all women\, we want to acknowledge that as two white women we have chosen three particular films that are hetero-normative and represent the reckoning of mostly white females in the overculture\, with little or no representation of women of color. We recognize that the socialization\, conditioning\, and reaction from the overculture differs racially and culturally for women within the United States and the across the globe.\nDATES: Thursdays\, October 14\, November 11\, December 16 \n3- months / 3-hour session /$120 – 40 – 45 women – LIVE experience only/ **no recordings** \nOctober 14: Athlete A \nNovember 11: Bombshell \nDecember 16: Promising Young Woman \nREGISTER AT:https://www.kimberlyannjohnson.com/wild-discernment \nLiz Koch  is an international educator\, author\, mother\, crone\, and creator of CoreAwareness™ focusing on awareness as key for developing human potential and awakening consciousness. With 45 years teaching experience\, Liz is recognized in the somatic\, bodywork\, and fitness professions as an authority on the core tissue called Psoas. Both nationally and internationally published\, her works include The Psoas Book\, Unraveling Scoliosis CD\, Core Awareness; Enhancing Yoga\, Pilates\, Exercise & Dance\, Psoas & Back Pain CD\, Mother\, Maiden\, Crone: Our Pleasure Playlist\, and her latest book Stalking Wild Psoas: Embodying Your Core Intelligence. \nKimberly Ann Johnson is a somatic sex educator\, trauma guide\, postpartum advocate and single mom. She helps women heal from birth injuries\, gynecological surgeries and sexual boundary violations. She is the author of the early mothering classic The Fourth Trimester and Call of the Wild: How We Heal Trauma\, Awaken Our Own Power\, and Use It for Good. She is the host of the Sex Birth Trauma podcast. \nIMPORTANT: Due to the nature of our focus of the Media/Bookclub\, we will be covering difficult and emotional subjects. We request that you only join if you have a firm foundation in somatic explorations\, preferring women who have studied with one or both of us.  Participants need to know they have the confidence\, physical centering\, and psychic anchoring to hold themselves in time and space with a clear sense of containment and experience in grounding. This course is not a good fit for those who may be currently feeling destabilized\, traumatized\, struggling to heal\, or in need of re-establishing a baseline nervous system and coherency. We may be going deep in this course\, not only conceptually but truly into the lived wilderness of our psyche and soma. with this in mind please be aware that listening to others speak to their deeply personal responses can be difficult. If you find yourself becoming upset\, please be sure to have a support person or therapist to talk to between monthly meetings. \n

SUMMARY:Decolonizing Notions of Psoas
DESCRIPTION:Decolonizing Notions of Psoas \nPresented October 2021. The video recording is available by purchasing a ticket below. \n \nCore integrity is something I think each of us needs to explore in today’s world.  The agency and integrity of our own being.  Psoas as a vital messenger of core integrity is called by Tao healers “the muscle of the soul.”  Psoas speaks clearly as animal body – communicating primal instincts of being alive and apart of Earth’s kinship with all life.  Decolonizing Notions of Psoas begins with recognizing the top down\, power over systemic construct that is personified by individuating human bodies through isolation and idealizing our beings through concertizing the body as a static form. This is represented through objectified language such as calling our core a “spinal column”. \nI’ve come to understand that the rigidity of the core is in fact a freeze response.  The “frozen” spine indicative of an unresponsive lineage of body.  The colonized white body has been idealized\, and no matter what skin color\, most systems of education focus on body as a structure. \nBy rejecting our animal-body we lose our instinctive knowing and our reciprocal bond with earth.  I see structure as a posturing\, controlled body as performative\, and colonized movement as militaristic – expressing intentionally or unintentionally human dissonance which in turn expresses a profound level of human arrogance.  It speaks to our deep disconnect and lack of reciprocity as part of a larger living system. Incoherent and dismissive the colonized body roams ravenous\, eating up the world and dominating not only other but our own soulful being. \nWhat I will be playing with\, and I hope you’ll join me\, is exploring what it is to re-humanize by integrating expression\, hydrating juicy core psoas and a awakening a supple dynamic spine. I’d like you to experience psoas as rooting into earth rather than lifting up and out of core.  And how inhabiting our earthly elemental terrain we begin remembering our true authenticity and interconnectivity.  Rather than continue performative behavior what is it to embody all aspects of myself?  Recognizing my place in the kinship of life we begin by not dominating my own system and instead access a wise creative bio-intelligence that fosters core integrity. \n  \nLISTEN: https://www.yogajournal.com/lifestyle/decolonize-your-core/

SUMMARY:FLUID CORE ~ Scar Tissue & The Psoas
DESCRIPTION:Fluid Core \nThe Effects of Scar Tissue \non the \nJuicy Psoas \nPresented October 2021. The video recording is available by purchasing a ticket below. \na collaboration with \nSue Hitzmann \n \nJoin our conversation and learn self-help techniques for resolving \nSCAR TISSUE \nand improving\nthe Connective Tissue Network \nScar tissue forming is an amazing process involving the cells found in our connective tissue. The primary cell of connective tissue is called a fibroblast. When we injure our skin (or any part of our body really) these amazing cells transform into myofibroblasts. When a wound needs healing\, these cells deposit collagen fibers and create stress to the tissue. The intracellular contraction these cells create pulls the tissue ends together\, aligning the collagen fibers with something called integrin-mediated pulling onto the collagen bundles. \nThis isn’t magic. You can help yourself and reduce the risk of a scar adhesion or what’s called fibrosis (no matter how old the scar is) from causing more problems later. As initial scar tissue forms\, the continuity of the tissues adjacent to the scar can become affected and over time\, although unnecessary in healing\, the scar tissue expands to healthy tissue slowly growing in size.  \n\n\n\n(Blog – Scarring may have deeper effects on the body) \n\n\n\n\n \n\nMeet My Guest: \nSue Hitzmann\, MS\, CST\, NMT\, is a nationally recognized neuro-fascial manual therapist and teacher whose studies and explorations have culminated in the creation of the MELT Method®. A revolutionary approach to pain-free fitness and longevity\, MELT is a self help technique for working with the connective tissue system called fascia to help restore movement efficiency and overall health span. Because the Psoas is deeply embedded in the sympathetic neuro-core\, hydrating connective tissue is an important key for resolving Psoas inflammation\, pain\, and tension. \nNeuroCore is a termed coined by neuro-fascial therapist Sue Hitzmann creator of The MELT Method® (2006) first heard during a conversation (2010) with author Liz Koch discussing the deepest “fascial bags” that enfold spinal cord\, psoas\, kidney\, adrenals: The NeuroCore System is comprised of a Reflexive Core – the 3D cylinder and the Rooted Core\, the head-to-toe neurofascial connection that allows our brain to sustain more efficient balance of our masses and spaces (another MELT Term) for the bony and joint parts of our body.(2018)

SUMMARY:LATS ~ Wings of Support
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe latissimus dorsi is a partner to the psoas!\nEmerging from the pelvic rim and out from the buttocks up into each arm\,\nthis large\, versatile\, and expressive tissue opens our hearts to long for and reach toward the stars. \nPresented September 2021. The video recording available by purchasing a ticket below. \n \n\n\n\n \nThe latissimus dorsi (Latin for broadest muscle of the back) has a unique relationship with the psoas; like lovers\, they complement each other. Yet like all couples\, they are completely different and unique. The psoas is central to the core\, while the “lat” expands laterally up and away from the core. The psoas is very deep and the lat is very superficial. The psoas connects spine to leg while the lat connects spine and pelvis to arm. The psoas takes us into our core; the lat takes us out toward the world. The psoas is all about core integrity; the lat is all about reaching out into the world and bringing the world back to the core. The tango they dance together is a beautiful balance of yin and yang\, male and female\, personal and communal energies\, and interwoven dynamics. The freedom of one depends upon the freedom of the other; flowing in harmony together\, they support wholeness and congruent behavior. When dry and dense\, the latissimus can restrain even simple arm movements and arm move- ments can pull on the pelvic basin. Thus\, opening this tissue is essen- tial for maintaining a centered pelvis. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Weights & Fluid Movement
DESCRIPTION:“The primary characteristic of any fluid system is in its ability to keep transforming itself.” \nEmilie Conrad \nExploring the use of weights in movement\,  as both a support and an energizing effect on our fluid system\, is the focus of this class. \nBy hydrating all tissue including the juicy psoas our potential for increasing strength and resiliency is benefited by exploring weight.  \n \nVal Loeffner modeled for Core Awareness: Enhancing Yoga Pilates Exercise & Dance \nand teaches jungle gym classes https://innerdance.com/class-descriptions/ \nIMPORTANT: Each person will explore at their own pace and only with a small amount of weight to activate the juicy psoas. Please come prepared with small arm and ankle weights (see photos below) .  If you also happen to have a weighted vest or weighted waist belt please bring it along to show off more possibilities. \nDISCLAIMER: I am not associated with the Continuum Teachers Association or with www.Continuummovement.com.  I was a student and colleague of Emilie Conrad.  I had the opportunity to work with her\, teach together\, and explore her ideas in writing (see Dem Bones article). What I will be teaching is a personal integrated approach  to playing with weights and movement to hydrate the juicy psoas.  \nNOTE: The photo’s below are borrowed from the Continuum Teachers Associated website: https://www.continuumteachers.com/about/playground  –  I highly recommend the site for finding ongoing classes in Continuum Play (i.e. Jungle Gym) all around the world.  The purpose of the following photos is to show an example of arm and ankle weights that you can purchase at Fitness/Sports stores and big box stores such as Target.  Slide on or Wrap Around (velcro) styles work well.   \n \n \n  \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Re-Awakening Your Spinal Curves
DESCRIPTION:Re-Awakening Your Spinal Curves\nMovement Explorations for Regaining Spinal Resiliency \nPresented July 2021. The video recording available by purchasing a ticket below. \n \n\n\n\nIn the western perspective\, it is often thought best to avoid collapsing and curling inward. There are abundant techniques for stabilizing the spine that provide support like an angle or a cable used to reinforce a center-post. Shaping tissue surrounding the spinal vertebrae like armor commanding control\, spine is concretized into a column. The spinal column is then carried forth by the two legs. Inadvertently involving psoas\, this mechanistic view of spine justifies imbedding rods for reinforcement\, limiting movement with fusion\, and utilizing dense materials to reconstruct vertebral disks. The mysterious process of life’s in-folding and un- folding is perceived as faulty and dismissed.  In doing so the spine becomes dry and begins to lose its undulating shape.  Regaining natural curves is a process of dissolving and re-awakening the living dynamic spine.  Please be sure to have an inflatable soft ball ( 7-10 inches)\, large bath towel and face towel.

SUMMARY:Resolving One-sided Psoas Issues
DESCRIPTION:Presented July 2021. The video recording available by purchasing a ticket below. \n \n  \nThroughout 45 years of teaching most students and clients come to see me with one sided psoas problems.  But resolving this dilemma is never just one sided. The psoas is a whole complex and needs to be understood as part of the NeuroCore™ or center of movement. \n\n\n\nThe importance of reestablishing core integrity cannot be emphasized enough. A centered pelvis is the most important step in reestablishing core integrity. Proper positioning of bones\, increasing proprioception\, and maintaining muscular balance are vital tools for healing one-sided psoas problems. \n\n\n\n  \nNOTE: NeuroCore™ is a termed coined by neuro-fascial therapist Sue Hitzmann\, creator of The MELT Method® (2006) first heard during a conversation (2010) with author Liz Koch discussing the deepest “fascial bags” that enfold spinal cord\, psoas\, kidney\, adrenals: The NeuroCore System is comprised of a Reflexive Core – the 3D cylinder and the Rooted Core\, the head-to-toe neurofascial connection that allows our brain to sustain more efficient balance of our masses and spaces (a MELT term) for the bony and joint parts of our body.(2018) \n

SUMMARY:Looking at Trauma through the Lens of Psoas
DESCRIPTION:Looking at Trauma through the Lens of Psoas adds an essential piece to the conversation. \nAs mammals our healthy psoas moves us through metabolizing our experiences. \n Our Wild Primal Expressions are essential for both survival and thriving. \nHow do we freeze? How do we flee or fight? What curls us into a ball for protection or stretches us to expand and ward off ? \nPresented July 2021. The video recording available by purchasing a ticket below. \n \nTrauma is defined as any short or long term overwhelming experience that ignites the fight/flight survival response without resolution. Trauma can include but is not limited to prenatal and birth trauma\, childhood abuse (physical and emotional)\, neglect\, sexual violations and experiences such as surgery\, dental work\, accidents\, natural disasters\, violence\, war\, torture\, all forms of shock and living under the threat of eminent danger. \nYou will discover the Healthy Psoas is: \n\nMessenger of the Central Nervous System\nPart of the Fear Reflex (flee\, fight and freeze response) and the Autonomic Nervous System\nDynamic for organ functioning\, breath & movement as part of the Sympathetic Neurocore\nPowerful and Expressive of our WILD animal body called the primitive (reptilian) brain\nSupple\, dynamic\, resilient and responsive for supporting coherent expression understood within the Polyvagal Theory\n\n  \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Coming To Our Senses as Women
\nJoin me for six session (2.5 hr) over three weeks and dive under the cultural and historical strangle-hold to sense your animal body’s essential aliveness and potential. Dissolve the density..the fear\, the freeze\, and the fawning responses. Honor your wild and know its power. Discern the W I L D from  brutal or savage.  Enable your expression to no longer be predicated on inauthentic yet correct behavior. Each session includes movement explorations\, journaling\, and connection. Begin accessing the impulses of longing deep within and what is required to manifest core integrity.  Employing micro-fluid movements\, which soften the freeze response and strictures in our spine\, can spontaneously evoke emergent experiences that help us to access a larger field of bio-intelligent knowing. By not promoting exclusivity of movement but rather allowing bio-morphic expression\, we discover our kinship with all living systems. Going deeper within our own biological terrain\, we dive under the cultural and historical strangle-hold to sense our animal body’s essential aliveness and potential.

SUMMARY:Psoas & The Energy Systems
DESCRIPTION:Presented June 2021. The video recording is available by purchasing a ticket below. \nWithin the Taoist tradition the Psoas is spoken of as the “muscle of the soul”. Merriam-Webster defines the word soul as the immaterial essence\, animating principle\, a person’s total self\, active and essential; the moral and emotional nature of human beings. Expressing our deepest desire for integrity\, passion\, and possibility\, our Psoas reveals soul qualities imbued within our very own flesh and blood. \n \n \n\n\n\nEmerging from a central channel\, psoas is intimately located near the Conception and Governing vessels reflecting a self-actualizing gesture of individuated becoming.16 Orbiting through the core\, these two essential channels reflect balance and the complimentary flow of polarities referred to as Yin and Yang. From the perspective of core energy\, direct manipulation of posture seems like a superficial attempt to control the dynamic expression of Qi flowing through and within our being. To find an energetic balance in the ecosystem of a living organism requires a conscious differentiation between demanding levels of control and igniting maturation within the whole system. \nOverlaying the energetic Chakra System\, Chinese Five Element Theory\, and Meridian Model  with the Primordial Psoas helps us correlate and track the emotional/feeling qualities of the Psoas while inviting an opportunity for awakening its true nature. Rather than minimizing the Psoas by defining it as a hip flexor\, it behooves us to recognize that this smart tissue is a sensory source of primordial energy\,  not to be manipulated but respected.

SUMMARY:Soulful Psoas ~ A Language of Knowing
DESCRIPTION:Powerful soul-full stories emanate from the Psoas centered deep within a person’s core.\nThe psoas is always ready to reveal its mystery to anyone willing and capable of bearing witness to the truth. \nPresented May 2021. The video recording is available by purchasing a ticket below. \n \n  \nWhat mysteries the Psoas unfolds to those willing listeners! \nThe psoas speaks of the very heart of our existence as human beings.\nOur journey thus far and the profound longing each and every one of us feels through our journey. The story of our earthly existence.  \n \nFor more than 40 years I’ve held space for the psoas to tell its tale. I’ve named the psoas the messenger of the midline not simply because of its physical location (emerging directly from the center axis of the human core) but also because of its power within each of us. Profound and sensitive\, the Psoas never lies.  This bio-intelligent tissue resonates the truth as it is right now. Like the precious new born or a wizened sage\, our Psoas is a messenger asking nothing of us but to hear and respond to the moment. \nI’ve had the privilege of listening to personal stories while sitting with another person’s psoas. Stories that if I am willing to hear help to reveal the inner life with all its vulnerabilities\, insights\, and deep felt emotions. By sharing these stories with you the reader\, I hope to offer the practitioner a window into the felt sensed\, unresolved dynamic found within the human core. Each story offers the practitioner and educator not only insight but also challenges our creative ability to truly help another person. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Embodied Yoga Summit ~ Juicy Psoas
DESCRIPTION:Join me Sunday April 25th \n \n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\nJ U I C Y   P S O A S \n\n\n\n\n\nRe~Wilding Core Expression \nAt the very core of our being is a river of bio-intelligence and a primal tissue called psoas that flows out as a messenger of agency and core integrity. By striving for control\, perfection\, and superiority over our core expression\, our psoas becomes captured and recruited resulting not only in exhaustion but also a constricted\, dry tissue. Rewilding psoas is a journey of dissolving our willful engagement of the upper psoas in order to embody our bones by returning once again to root deep within and back down to the ground. \nIn this session\, you will: \n\n\nRe-imagine Psoas beyond bio-mechanical language to sense the core tissue as a bio-intelligent messenger \n\n\nExperience the value of micro-movements to hydrate spinal vertebrae and connective tissue for gaining lush juicy psoas \n\n\nDiscover how skeletal proprioception supports neuro-coherency ground fluid psoas and ignite core integrity. \n\n\n\n\n\n5am PDT (Los Angeles) / 8am EDT (New York) / 1pm GMT (London) / 2pm CET (Paris) / 10pm AEST (Sydney)

SUMMARY:Valuing Constructive Rest through Reciprocity
DESCRIPTION:“Sometimes I wish I could photosynthesize so that just by being\,\njust by shimmering at the meadow’s edge or floating lazily on a pond\,\nI could be doing the work of the world while standing silent in the sun.” \n― Robin Wall Kimmerer \nPresented April 2021. The video recording is available by purchasing a ticket below.\n\n \n  \nToday is Earth Day and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than landing and locating.  Feeling the ground under my body\, sinking into the land I belong to\, and thanking her for all her support and nourishment.  Asking her what she needs this moment\, how best may I show her my love and appreciation. She (like all women) does not need fixing ~ she needs to be seen\, cherished ~ she needs love and gratitude…the rest will come… \nTo land is to awaken my responsibility and my longing for reciprocity \n  \n  \nPOEM SOURCE: Robin Wall Kimmerer is the author of Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom\, Scientific Knowledge\, and the Teachings of Plants \n

SUMMARY:FLUID CORE: Psoas\, Connective Tissue and BONES with Sue Hitzmann
DESCRIPTION:Fluid Core \nPsoas\nConnective Tissue \nand \nBONES  \na collaboration with \nSue Hitzmann \nPresented April 2021. The video recording is available by purchasing a ticket below. \nJoin our conversation and discover the \nBONE\nPSOAS\nConnection \nand why\nConnective Tissue is key to resiliency and health\nBones\n         Talk\nto our Brain\n&\nto the\nEarth  \n“The human skeleton and our bones are often times considered mere spacers \nand the stuff fascia connects to as a way to leverage force and motion. \nBut it turns out bones may play a significant role in not only our memory and mood \nbut may assist us in preventing anxiety and depression.” \n\n\n\n\nDiscover the role fascia plays in supporting over all health!\nTransporting nutrients and fluids throughout our body\, helping defend our body from microorganism\,\nthe bone-fascia network plays a role in both our immune system and nervous system \n\n\n\n\nMeet My Guest: \nSue Hitzmann\, MS\, CST\, NMT\, is a nationally recognized neuro-fascial manual therapist and teacher whose studies and explorations have culminated in the creation of the M.E.L.T. Method® (MELT). A revolutionary approach to pain-free fitness and longevity\, Melt Method is a self help technique for working with the connective tissue. Because the Psoas is deeply embedded in the sympathetic neuro-core\, hydrating connective tissue is an important key for resolving Psoas inflammation\, pain\, and tension. \n\n\n\nNeuroCore is a termed coined by neuro-fascial therapist Sue Hitzmann creator of The MELT Method® (2006) first heard during a conversation (2010) with author Liz Koch discussing the deepest “fascial bags” that enfold spinal cord\, psoas\, kidney\, adrenals: The NeuroCore System is comprised of a Reflexive Core – the 3D cylinder and the Rooted Core\, the head-to-toe neurofascial connection that allows our brain to sustain more efficient balance of our masses and spaces (another MELT Term) for the bony and joint parts of our body.(2018)

SUMMARY:FLUID CORE ~ Feeling Lost on the Way to Core Integrity (2-hr zoom)
DESCRIPTION:F L U I D  C O R E \nFeeling Lost on the Way to Core Integrity  \nPresented March 2021. The video recording is available by purchasing a ticket below. \n                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          \n\n\n\nFeeling lost she does not know how to proceed.\nI sense a mix of emotions within her – as if something inside simply has to give.\nAlthough she is beginning to recognize her vulnerability\, the feeling is unfamiliar and\, truthfully\, quite terrifying to her. \n\n\n\nStalking Wild Psoas: Embodying Your Core Intelligence \n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe sense of feeling lost within a somatic inquiry can easily evoke looking outward for answers…but it is by getting lost that our sensory system awakens and new capabilities open up that foster innovating responses. We discover our knowing that which is invisible begins to unfold… Catching a fleeting glimpse\, detecting a movement at the perimeter of awareness\, there may be a new sense that something is not yet acknowledged\, or feels lost\, and yet is on the cutting edge of consciousness. Perhaps this is what hunting or being hunted feels like in the wild kingdom. Quick moving\, it can be too difficult to catch an impulse that sets our being into reaction: a desire to jump and escape as well as a longing to connect and be found. Following initiation of an expression requires a patient slowing of pace and a quieting receptivity in the heart to perceive the impulse just before it comes into being. It takes a bifurcating focus of awareness that moves inward and concurrently outward toward a larger field of influence. In this way\, we can stay present to feel the origins of our fear and the impulses of our longing. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLiz Koch  is an international educator\, author\, and creator of CoreAwareness™ focusing on awareness as key for developing human potential and awakening consciousness. SUMMARY:FUNDAMENTALS: Happy Feet ~ Happy Psoas (Zoom)
DESCRIPTION:FUNDAMENTALS \nHappy Feet ~ Happy Psoas \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWith its insistence on streamlining linear thinking\, the dominant power structure of western society\nbegins to loosen its grip\, opening up a multidimensional world where we can think not only on our feet but also with our feet.\nStalking Wild Psoas: Embodying Your Core Intelligence\n \nPresented March 2021. The video recording available by purchasing a ticket below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n  \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\nGrounded through the feet supports a weight-bearing pelvis which offers the spine a rooted base of support\nas well as a profound relationship with the Earth. \n \nWhen bones in the feet and ankle are restricted\, the relationship between ground and space becomes challenged. For example\, putting a rigid shoe on a baby’s foot prevents the foot from freely rolling\, limiting the joint articulation and interrupting a resilient stride. This sets up a conditioned pattern of movement. Over time limited movement in toes and binding around the ankle limits articulation of the ankle joint essential for weight distribution along with the lack of movement in vital proprioception necessary for orientation.  A shoe with a negative heel (lower in the back than the front) for example shifts the skeletal weight back into a static position\, demanding an inappropriate muscular effort to move forward and stifling core psoas. When shoes worn continuously attempt to create an ideal shape or action they impose upon both muscles and bones\, causing imbalances throughout our body. Let’s take our shoes off and begin to awaken our feet. \nWe will spend time exploring the feet and their direct relationship with Core Expression\, Balance\, and all the Diaphragms so essential to our sense of buoyancy (ground force reaction) spacial freedom of our connective tissue and healthy energetic flow of our  meridians.

SUMMARY:Race & Body: Dissolving Whiteness in Core Expression ~ A Collaboration with Kimberly Ann Johnson
DESCRIPTION:Race & Body \nDissolving Whiteness in Core Expression \nA Workshop for “White” Women \n \n  \nphoto credit Allyssa Olaviar (unsplash) \nHow does primal expression change our perception and our response to ourselves\, and others\, specifically as it applies to race?  \nHow do we work with our responses to being in the category of “white women” \nand what does it means to be an individual within the group? \nHow can we learn to track individual truths and structural truths within our animal bodies? \nOur wild animal bodies are capable of sensing and moving deeply and in so doing we become conscious of the insidious ways colonization is held and communicated within our flesh and bone. We may squirm and distract ourselves\, but we have what it takes to dissolve these century-old impulses to cage\, control\, and power over  ~ to reclaim our inner Wild and to foster an antiracist culture.  \nWhat “white” posturing and performative expression share in common is a compartmentalization of body splitting us from our felt-sense emotions\, gut instincts\, and essential vitality. This power-over response built in to the Western approach shows up in yoga\, Pilates\, dance\, and fitness.  The idealized white body becomes the standard for which all other bodies are measured. Yet this column of strength is often a “frozen” spine limiting our potential and our capacity for coherent expression.   \n \nPhoto credit: Clem Onojeghuo-unsplash \n By using bio-intelligent fluid movements and sound\, we venture into disassociated responses\, and feelings of fragility to recognize the ancestral rigidity defended within “white-posturing.” Following these primal impulses dissolves distortions while nourishing life-enhancing gestures and expressions. Through insight\, journaling\, and tracking we attend to our authentic self\, discovering different responses than those Western Culture provide for us.  Claiming agency we can participate in co-creating and re-imagining ourselves and our values in the context of race\, justice\, and equity.     \nWe will attend to the questions: \nWhen\, how\, and why do I control myself? \nHow do I move if I am not told what to do? \n  \n \nKimberly Ann Johnson is the author of the  The Fourth Trimester. and her soon to be release Call Of The Wild (due out in April 2021). She is a Sexological Bodyworker\, Somatic Experiencing trauma resolution practitioner\, birth doula\, and single mom. SUMMARY:Changing the Language of Body ~ ReWilding Your Psoas
DESCRIPTION:Stalking Wild Psoas \nEmbodying Your Core Intelligence  \nPresented February 2021. The video recording is available by purchasing a ticket below. \nEssay Nine \n\n\n\nReWilding Your Psoas \n\n\n\nHow Play Impulses Help us Thrive \n\n\n\n\n\n\nA Conceptual Shift Made Potent Through Movement \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRe-wilding ignites unexpected acts of awakening. Redundancy\, whether in our personal life or in our work environment\, happens when expressions become defined and limited. To avoid redundancy\, living systems move inward toward depth perception and outward toward dynamic expression and realtiomship. As biological organisms\, our being-bodies are part of a much larger system that requires regenerative rather than degenerative practices. By consciously participating and contributing to overall sustainability within our own system\, other beings are stirred to thrive. Because our inquisitiveness is a vital source of nourishment\, following our play instincts and honing our somatic impulses is imperative in order to not only survive but also to thrive.
