WiLDING Deepening Into the Dark New York NY
December 5 @ 9:00 am - December 6 @ 5:00 pm
In today’s world, we simply need to carve out space and devote time
to descend into our own living system with no agenda,
to-do list, outcome, or result intended other than
to simply be receptive to what returns on the tide of an ever-flowing sea.
To access the process of dissolving and reemerging whole is to go into the dark. Gestation always takes place in the dark, whether it is the egg in the nest, the seed in the earth, or the embryo in the womb. Incubation is a transformative process where growth takes a new shape. This mysterious process requires darkness as incubation is a voyage to the underworld. “It’s a place where animals go into retreat; where they lie motionless, absolutely still, hardly breathing. They sleep there, or they stay in a state similar to sleep, or they hibernate…a state of suspended animation.”*
Carving out time in a busy life to go into the dark figuratively and literally, and preferably without being ill, creates the conditions needed for the regenerative process to work its magic of inevitable deep renewal – a rendezvous with our own core intelligence. Sleeping is simply not enough. The warm nest, fertile earth, and inviting womb must be shaped with all the nourishing elements provided.
