Flourishing Through Continuum Explorations
with
Guest Teacher Mary Abrams
Presented December 2020. The video recording is available by purchasing a ticket below.
Mary joins me as my guest to bring you Continuum explorations from one of its original students and teachers….from her pure heart Mary carries the thread of Emilie Conrad’s profound teachings in her deeply supportive space in New York City.
During the pandemic the Moving Body Resources (MBR) studio (where Emilie taught for years while in New York) has remained closed but for a few moments that allow community to safely gather. Together we’ll virtually enter the MBR studio for a deep dive into a field of resonance of fluid movement. I invoke the present energy of Emile to join us as we enter the Winter Solstice ~ diving into the darkness so needed for healing. My heart and work has thrived at the Moving body Resources for many years and I sorely miss the space it provides me.
Please join me. All class proceeds go to supporting the studio as we enter a second year of limited travel, participation, and as we struggle to hold dear to what nourishes our souls.
Mary Abrams, MA, RSME founder/director of Moving Body Resources apprenticed in Continuum Movement with its founder Emilie Conrad from 1994-2014 and was among the first group of people Emilie Conrad and Susan Harper Authorized as Continuum Movement Teachers in 1999. She continues to dialogue with Susan Harper (Continuum Montage), and explore human being theory (Affect-script theory) and Epistemics, with Emilie’s long-time collaborator, Gary David, PhD.
All Mary’s studies are valuable resources for tracking what is, being open to the emerging unexpected, and for discovering new meaning, and learning to extend presence into the world. Since 1984 she has professionally explored her passions as a dancer/choreographer and somatic movement teacher. Mary is a Registered Somatic Movement Educator (RSME) with the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association (ISMETA), and holds a masters degree from Goddard College in Consciousness Studies with a focus on embodied movement practice and theory. She served as Co-Chair with Lauren Abramson on the Board of Directors of the Silvan S. Tomkins Institute (SSTI) from 2013-2016. From 2009-2017 she held a leadership role on the USA section of the MA Dance & Somatic Well-being: Connections to the Living Body from the University of Central Lancashire, Preston, England, and continues to teach on the UK campus. She also teaches on the Continuum training at the Somatic Academy of Berlin, Germany and mentors people interested in becoming Somatic Movement Educators and/ or Continuum Teachers
